meet michael malone
Glass Hammer Productions was founded by the award-winning director and comedian Michael Malone. Michael’s background in directing films and almost 20 years of touring as a stand-up comedian has given him a unique perspective when it comes to capturing comedy. Michael has taken what he has learned from directing feature and short films and has applied it to capturing live stand-up comedy performances which draws the audience in a completely new and different way.
Michael co-wrote, starred in and directed his debut feature film, “Bethlehem” in 2016. The film brought home 16 awards and nominations in the festival circuit including “Best Dark Comedy”, “Best Feature Film” and “Best Screenplay”. From there he wrote, starred in and directed a short film called, “Smashing Pumpkins” which also brought home multiple awards including “Best Comedy”.
Michael then switched over to capturing live performance by directing his debut stand-up on-hour comedy special, “Laugh After Death”. That special garnered over 2 million views via Amazon Prime and was featured on their “Must Watch Comedy” list.
In 2021 Michael created, hosted and directed a five part series called, “Monsters” which featured stand-up comedians performing on stage and then talking one-on-one with Michael about the trauma hiding behind their punchlines. Later that year, Michael directed Ken Garr’s debut one-hour special, “American Hero” which now has over 50k views on YouTube and was featured in Forbes Magazine.
In 2022 Michael directed his second comedy special, “Wait & See” which has brought home multiple awards including “Best Stand-Up Comedy Special of 2022”. From there Michael was asked to direct and help create half-hour comedy specials, talk shows and documentaries for the upcoming streaming network, “Brad Garrett Presents”.
